ORTHODOX CHURCH REALITY IN UKRAINE: INTERESTS AND GOALS OF THE ACTORS OF CONFRONTATION

The article is devoted to an analysis of inter-Orthodox contradictions in contemporary Ukraine, which constitute a serious problem not only for Ukrainian churches, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) and others but also form the basis of conflicts throughout global Orthodoxy and are a cause of confrontation between the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church. Inter-Orthodox tensions are of concern to Ukrainian civil society, Ukrainian and foreign mass media, and the Ukrainian state, which has a vital interest in resolving the conflict. Each of these actors has its own interests related to the settlement of inter-Orthodox contradictions. Ultimately, civil harmony in society and the condition of our Orthodox churches, which are a dominant force in the spiritual life of our people and which, in the end, should unite into a single local Orthodox Church-depend on their joint efforts in this sphere.
