SCIENTIFIC, PEDAGOGICAL AND MANAGERIAL ACTIVITIES OF O. I. ZADOYANCHUK IN THE HISTORY OF GLUKHIV STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The article is dedicated to a comprehensive analysis of the scientific-pedagogical and administrative activities of Oleksandr Ivanovych Zadoianchuk as one of the key figures in the modern history of the Hlukhiv State Pedagogical University. Based on archival materials, including the personal file of the lecturer from the university’s departmental archive, institutional orders, character references, materials from attestation commissions, publications, and administrative documents, the main stages of his professional development as a scholar, teacher, and administrator from 1984 to 2002 are reconstructed. The article traces the evolution of O.I. Zadoianchuk’s pedagogical activity from his position as assistant of the Department of Marxism-Leninism to associate professor of the Department of Social and Economic Disciplines. It also outlines the specifics of his teaching within the context of ideological and educational transformation at the end of the 1980s and during the 1990s. Special attention is paid to his role in introducing new courses in the humanities, including political science, contemporary social theory, and the basics of constitutional law of Ukraine, as well as in developing curricula, methodological recommendations, and forms of student knowledge assessment. A separate emphasis is placed on the scholar’s research activity, particularly on the formation and evolution of his scientific interests–from issues of labor culture within the framework of Marxist theory to the political aspects of the development of civil society in Ukraine. His participation in conferences, preparation of scientific publications, and defense of his candidate dissertation in political science are analyzed, highlighting their significance not only in his personal career but also in the development of the political science field at the university. The study also highlights O.I. Zadoianchuk’s administrative and organizational-educational activities as deputy dean, head of the educational department, and vice-rector for humanitarian and educational work. His contribution to the development of extracurricular activities for students, the promotion of student self-government, research activities of learners, and the coordination of the university’s educational policy during the establishment of independent Ukraine is examined. It is concluded that Oleksandr Ivanovych Zadoianchuk’s work had a significant impact on the institutional development of Hlukhiv State Pedagogical University, contributed to the modernization of humanities education, promoted democratic values, and fostered civic awareness among students. The article expands understanding of the personal factor in the history of higher pedagogical education institutions in Ukraine and can be used in further historical-pedagogical and biographical research.
