THE ISSUE OF UKRAINIAN IDENTITY AND MEMORY POLITICS IN SOCIAL AND HUMANITARIAN STUDIES: CURRENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS

The study provides a general description and analysis of scientific research on the issues of memory politics and Ukrainian identity. It identifies the main substantive and structural advantages and gaps in scientific research on the topic of identity. It reveals the main conceptual and thematic dimensions of Ukrainian identity and memory politics that require further scientific research. The objectives are achieved through the use of the following methods and approaches: analytical, comparative, systemic, and historiographical. The article shows that the issue of Ukrainian identity is interdisciplinary in nature and has been comprehensively developed at the theoretical level in the social sciences and humanities. It demonstrates that the most developed issues of Ukrainian identity and memory culture appear in cultural studies and political science research. It is determined that qualitative research methods prevail in scientific studies on the topic of Ukrainian identity. It is revealed that the issues of memory politics and Ukrainian identity are thoroughly developed at the theoretical level. It has been revealed that studies on the culture of memory and Ukrainian identity do not pay sufficient attention to the empirical or practical dimension of studying the above phenomena. It has been observed that the following aspects of identity are insufficiently studied in social sciences and humanities: clarifying the influence of historical and cultural myths and archetypes on the internal understanding of identity; typologizing different types of sociocultural identity; the identification of the dynamics of the functioning and transformation of Ukrainian identity during a period of full-scale war. The main strengths of scientific research include the following: a multifaceted approach to defining the phenomenon of Ukrainian identity; a multi-level approach to defining the sociocultural elements that determine the specificity of Ukrainian identity; a relevant and comprehensive representation of the relationship between the culture of memory and the level of solidarity of the Ukrainian community.
