UKRAINE’S TOURISM AS A MANIFESTATION OF MODERN CULTURAL TREND

The article singles out the tourism of Ukraine as a current socio-cultural practice and a trend related to specific context of the era. It is specified genealogical cohesion and time length of the tradition of tourism in Ukraine from the first communities of the end of the 19th century to modern virtual-performative practices. Empirical forms of domestic tourism as a practice – excursions, visits to conservation areas, ethnic routes, etc. are highlighted. The author notes that domestic tourism has considerable and largely untapped potential compared to international tourism. It is marked that the increase in the use of domestic tourist routes by the citizens of Ukraine is associated with advanced national self-awareness caused by recent political events (the Orange Revolution, the Revolution of Dignity). Research findings allow concluding the inexhaustible potential of tourism despite the adverse social and economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
