REPRESENTATIONS OF TECHNICAL CREATIVITY IN THE SPACE OF THE NATURAL AND THE ARTIFICIAL ENVIRONMENT: A PHILOSOPHICAL-ANTHROPOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE SCENARIO OF THE HORRIFIC IN THE EARTH’S ECOSYSTEMS

The article undertakes a comprehensive philosophical-anthropological analysis of the role of technical creativity in the civilizational advance of humankind. It considers the optimistic prospect of human technical activity – linked to the striving for harmonization and innovative improvement of the artificial and the natural environment – as well as the pessimistic one, embodied in images of catastrophes, technogenic ruins, and ecological crises. Examples of the representation of technical creativity are examined, through the prism of which humanity projects its own notions of power over nature while simultaneously provoking risks and threats to the natural environment. Special attention is paid to the study of the phenomenon of “the horrific” in situations of disrupted harmony between natural processes and technogenic intervention. This approach makes it possible to combine the aesthetics of the horrific with philosophical-anthropological and philosophical-cultural analysis, thereby allowing the “scenario of the horrific” to be understood as a mode of revealing the limits of technical creativity within the space of the Earth. In this connection, a number of questions are outlined that require philosophical reflection and urgent resolution at the global level: Is technology a determining force or a construct of social action? Can technical creativity be oriented toward sustainable development, and how can this be achieved in engineering education and practice? Is it possible to minimize the destructions of technical creativity through responsible thinking, democratic decision-making mechanisms, and engineering oriented toward humanistic values? It is demonstrated that technical creativity and engineering activity, being the principal factor of humanity’s technogenic development, are not only instruments of progress but are also capable of altering ecosystems in unpredictable ways. Reflection on the ambivalence of technical creativity within the field of the philosophy of education will foster the formation of critical thinking and the cultivation of an environmentally responsible and technically educated individual capable of assessing the risks of technogenic development.
