Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical interpretation of nationogenesis as a complex and multidimensional process of the reproduction of a national community. In contemporary social and humanitarian research, the nation is increasingly understood not as a static entity but as a dynamic socio-historical construct maintained through the interaction of institutional structures, symbolic discourses, and cultural practices. The aim of the article is to conceptualize nationogenesis as a process occurring simultaneously at several interconnected levels – institutional, discursive, and cultural, – and to determine their role in the formation and maintenance of national identity. The theoretical framework of the study is based on the key approaches of contemporary theories of nation and nationalism. Modernist interpretations emphasize the role of political institutions in the formation of national communities. Constructivist approaches highlight the importance of communicative practices and symbolic narratives in constructing the idea of collective belonging. The ethno-symbolist perspective draws attention to the role of historical memory, myths of origin, and cultural symbols in maintaining the continuity of national identity. The article attempts to integrate these theoretical approaches into a single analytical framework that allows nation as the result of continuous social reproduction. The methodology of the study is based on an interdisciplinary conceptual analysis. Within the proposed model, the institutional level encompasses the activities of state and social institutions that form a shared political space. The discursive level is associated with the production and dissemination of narratives about a common history and collective destiny. The cultural level includes system of symbols, traditions, and everyday practices through which the national community is reproduced. Such an approach makes it possible to consider nationogenesis as a continuous process of maintaining and transforming the community. As a result, the article substantiates thesis that national identity is formed through the interaction of institutional, discursive, and cultural mechanisms that create a complex system of the social reproduction of the nation. The integration of these dimensions opens up opportunities for a more systematic analysis of national identities in contemporary societies
