HUMAN DIGNITY AS A FOUNDATION OF UKRAINIAN AGENCY AND A STRATEGY OF MORAL RESISTANCE IN WAR CONDITIONS

Abstract

The article offers a socio-philosophical analysis of the transformation of the concept of human dignity in the context of total war. The scientific novelty lies in the concept of dignity as a dynamic adaptive resource and a strategy of “selfcreation” in extreme situations. It is argued that in the event of an existential threat, dignity becomes an instrument for preserving free will and spiritual sovereignty, which prevents the transformation of the individual into an object of manipulation or an element of the totalitarian apparatus of coercion The architectonics of dignity is explored through the synergy of cognitive, motivational-value and behavioral components. It is shown that their integration forms a value framework that functions as a “filter” against dehumanization and allows for a conscious choice in favor of humanity. Manifestations of dignity in various environments are analyzed: from the military ethics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the “everyday dignity” of the civilian population, which is realized through solidarity and volunteerism. The specific nature of dignity under occupation and captivity as a form of intellectual resistance is determined. The experience of internally displaced persons is revealed, for whom the promotion of dignity is a way to overcome bureaucratic depersonalization. It is proven that Ukrainian “indestructibility” is a new way of dignity, which transforms moral convictions into the collective energy of resistance. It is through the act of voluntary self-determination that the individual transforms the traumatic experience of war into a higher form of ethical responsibility and civic service. The institutional dimension is emphasized: adherence to the principles of dignified interaction between government and society is defined as a guarantee of national cohesion. The promotion of dignity is justified as a criterion of the maturity of democracy and a prerequisite for post-war recovery. The conclusions emphasize that the protection of dignity determines not only the outcome of the axiological confrontation, but also the vector of civilizational development of Ukraine
