EXISTING PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE CULTURAL AND LEISURE DIRECTION OF THE OPEN-AIR MUSEUMS IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The work examines the existing problems and outlines the prospects for the further development of the cultural and leisure direction of the work of domestic open air museums. Skansen fully meet the challenges of globalization, because they are innovative in their essence – the maximum approach to the visitor makes them attractive in the sense of an interesting organization of leisure time. The activity of open-air museums is not a new phenomenon for the Ukrainian museum and local history space, since the creation of these institutions dates back to the middle of the 20’th century. However, we can state that today museum institutions face a number of tasks, the solution of which will contribute to Ukraine’s entry into the European museum space. One of the first and most urgent tasks remains the improvement of the legislative framework both in the field of culture and museum affairs, in particular. The existing legal framework is rather outdated and needs more modern approaches to management in the outlined field. So, for example, the issue of attracting additional funding sources remains unresolved by law. The issue of training personnel for work in the researched institutions remains quite relevant, since today it should be a museum employee who possesses the appropriate professional qualities. Currently, Ukrainian open-air museums need the involvement of innovative technologies for the modernization of museum communication and the possibility of expanding the range of offered services. In order to improve the cultural and leisure direction of the functioning of national openair museums, it is advisable: at the state level, to stimulate and implement measures aimed at creating conditions for the effective operation of open-air museums; establish cooperation with cultural institutions, tourist and local history organizations; to popularize both the open-air museum itself and the events it holds by actively involving visitors in cultural and entertainment projects; to ensure proper conditions for advanced training and retraining of museum workers; promote the introduction of the latest information technologies and the creation of virtual museums; to study and apply the international experience of state support, to establish interaction between employees of open-air museum institutions by creating relevant associations, societies, centers, etc., for the purpose of sharing experience.
